Super Natural Sessions have started at Salcey Forest. Join us in the mornings for a drop in activity, including things to do around the woods, or book a place on one of our afternoon "Magical Lessons for Muggles," or join a guided walk at 3pm to find out more about Trees and wand woods.
Saturday was our first Salcey Saturday. We spent our time in the woods playing games, finding out where fire comes from, lighting fires and cooking, building shelters and creating woody name badges and jewelry.
Our Banner was in use for the first time! A visit from a local school provided some creative expression in Salcey Forest. After considering artistic aspects such as perspective, colour, shape and texture the students created their own art works using things they can found around them.
Fire and Air have been delivering Forest school leader training to 16 new trainees.
The trainees came from a wide range of backgrounds, including teachers, teaching assistants, park rangers, land owners and outdoor educators. They joined us from across the East and South East and made a fantastic team. We spent two days in the woodlands, looking at skills such as how to use tools, identification of woodland species, woodland management, and how children learn. Participants commented how lovely the days had been and how lucky we had been with the weather. I decided not to tell them it had rained half one afternoon! The days seemed to fly - I guess that goes to show we were having fun! |
