Free Nature Based Mindfulness Sessions
During lock down in May 2020 I undertook research into the role of nature based mindfulness sessions on people's wellbeing. For this I recruited people, recorded their wellbeing then asked them to try out written and audio sessions in their own home. At the end I recorded their wellbeing again. Those who followed the sessions showed a significant improvement in their wellbeing scores. For more on the evidence see the Research project page.
Because this had such a positive impact on people's wellbeing I am now publishing and making the sessions available to people for free as we go into another lockdown.
There are 4 sessions each focussing on a different area of nature and a different form of art. I have included these both as PDF documents that you can download and print out, or as audio guidance in the form of you-tube clips. Please use whichever you prefer.
Each session includes a form of art-work, from visual art, to music, to prose and poetry. These pieces were chosen as they relate to specific aspects of nature, however do not feel you have to stick with these pieces. The work I have used must be royalty free (and so over 70 years old), but you can choose your own form of music, art, prose or poetry and there are plenty out there! Try looking at mindfulness poetry or searching for landart. You also don't have to limit yourself to "restful" things - one friend loves techno music for her mindful meditation.
Each session starts in the same way - considering your own wellbeing and placing your knowledge of yourself first.
